Quick Tip: Remove Recent and Site Contents from SharePoint 2013 Current Navigation

Until Microsoft gives us the option to remove this in navigation settings – this is the only sure-fire way I’ve found to remove the Recent and Site Contents links from the current navigation in SharePoint 2013.

Make sure you have jQuery attached to your masterpage.

<script src="//ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.11.0/jquery.min.js"></script>

Then just add the following code snippet to the end of your masterpage right before the closing body tag.

<script type="text/javascript">
     jQuery('.ms-core-listMenu-item:contains("Recent")').parent().remove();
     jQuery('.ms-core-listMenu-item:contains("Site Contents")').parent().remove();
</script>

This is how it will look after.
